Cross-Country running

To draw the PE unit of cross-country running to a close, children competed in a House Teams’ race on Tuesday afternoon. The weather was kind, and the sun shone as we held this year’s cross-country competition. Firstly, all children ran brilliantly, and we were very impressed with their determination, resilience and excellent team spirit. Year 5 and 6 completed three laps of the cross-country track which amounts to around 1500m.

The Year 5 children set off first, in what turned out to be a tight race between Georgia and Noah; they were neck and neck until half way around the final lap when Georgia upped the pace and managed to put in a small gap between them to take the win for the Lions. This individual victory led the Lions team to a brilliant win. A special mention must go to Alison Sykes for an excellent run, achieving 5th place - well done!

The Year 6 children ran another close race with strong performances, especially Joseph W and Aiden, who came home in 1st and 2nd for the Leopards and the Tigers respectively. The overall win wasn't decided until the last competitor had crossed the line, and it was the Tigers who just edged out the Lions and the Leopards.

We look forward to cross-country running again next year.
