On Monday afternoons Madame Driver visits school and teaches French to the children in Classes 2, 3 and 4. Our children love learning another language and on top of our weekly lessons we try and use French daily in our classroom activities, e.g. when we take the register and are greeting each other each morning. In the summer term, the children in Reception Class take part in a transitional French project in readiness for the Year 1/2 French curriculum; this project focuses on speaking and listening.
Learning a foreign language at Lothersdale School will help to develop pupils’ understanding of the world. The children are expected to make substantial progress in French, through an appropriate balance of spoken and written language, which will lay the foundations for further foreign languages teaching at KS3
