Victorian classroom

What a fantastic day! Everyone looked amazing in their Victorian costume ready for a trip to see what life was like in the Victorian era. In the morning, the children took part in a Victorian classroom workshop whereby they had to line up and use separate entrances, use slate and slate pencil for the arithmetic, use pen and ink for handwriting and enjoyed an object lesson learning about coal. All children could tell the difference between classrooms in 1870 and 2020. After lunch, we all walked around the woolland weaving part of the mill looking at all the old machines. We could imagine how busy and loud it would have been in the Victorian times and we even saw information from an accident book where children lost their fingers. There's so much to see and with the museum being not that far away it would make a great half term visit.

Miss Gallagher and all of class 3 would like to say a big thank you to all the parent helpers who were available to help today.
